What do you recommend for the wrinkles around the mouth & lips?

Chemical peels and dermabrasion can be effective treatments for removing the wrinkles around the mouth and under the nose.

What is Botox®?

Botox® is a protein that weakens and inactivates muscles. It is used to temporarily weaken facial muscles in the areas injected and relaxes the skin's surface, thereby "removing" the wrinkle.

What areas benefit the most from treatment with Botox®?

The vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows, forehead furrows, and crows feet around the eyes have been successfully treated with botox.

How long does it take for the results of Botox® to be noticeable?

Successful therapy is signaled by muscle weakness that begins 24-48 hours after injection with most patients seeing the most results at seven days.

How long will the results last?

After the initial injection the results last between four to seven months for most patients. They can have repeated injections when they notice the return of muscle movement. There is some current evidence that suggests that repeated injections may ultimately lead to longer results.

Is Botox® recommended for the wrinkles around the mouth?

No. Paralyzing the muscles around the mouth may cause a drooping smile.
